You can't fix what you can't see.

Every division has builders running 30-40% above average in variance spend. You know it's happening. But when someone asks "which builder, which trade, how much per home?" — you're digging through spreadsheets for a half day.

Ops meetings turn into guesswork. Standups have no teeth. And the VP wants a trend line you don't have.

"What does each builder actually cost us per home in variance spend?"
— The question this tool was built to answer.

Everything you need for Monday standups, VP presentations, and quality walks.

Questions

What data format do I need?

A CSV with at least date, builder name, and dollar amount. Category, community, lot, vendor, and reason code are optional but unlock more features. The import wizard auto-detects columns from major ERPs.

Does my data go anywhere?

No. VarianceGrade is a single HTML file that runs in your browser. Your data is stored in your browser's local storage on your machine. There is no server, no cloud upload, no account. We cannot see your data.

What ERP systems does it work with?

Anything that exports to CSV or Excel. We auto-detect columns from Buildertrend, MarkSystems, BuildTools, QuickBooks, Sage, BRIX, and CoConstruct. For Excel files, save as CSV first — the tool has step-by-step instructions.

Can I try before I buy?

The tool comes pre-loaded with demo data. When you purchase, you can explore every tab — scorecards, heatmap, trends, comparison — with sample data before importing anything of your own.

Is there a limit on builders or data?

No. VarianceGrade supports unlimited builders, unlimited communities, and unlimited data history. Import as many records as you have — the tool handles it all.

Is there a refund policy?

If the tool doesn't work for your data or use case, email us within 30 days and we'll make it right — whether that means a refund or custom help getting your data imported correctly.

Can I use it on multiple computers?

Yes. The file works anywhere you open it. Copy it to your work laptop, your home PC, a USB drive. Each computer maintains its own separate data.

Who built this?

A division ops manager who got tired of tracking variances in spreadsheets. Not a tech company. Not a consultant. Just someone who needed this tool for his own Monday standups and decided to make it available.
